Terms of Use

Applies to every Zivanor app · Last updated: 7 October 2026

In short

  • You may use Zivanor apps for your own purposes, on your own devices.
  • Whatever a scanned code contains is not ours. You decide what to open, join or act on.
  • Your data lives on your device. Keep a backup; we cannot recover it for you.
  • Zivanor Pro is a one‑time purchase handled by your app store, per platform.
  • Dutch law applies, without taking away the consumer rights of your own country.

Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms apply when you use any app published under the Zivanor name by VisionHost International B.V. ("we", "us"), currently Zivanor QR, with more planned. By installing or using a Zivanor app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Our Privacy Policy explains what the apps do with data and is part of these terms.

The apps

Zivanor QR scans and creates QR codes and barcodes, keeps a local history, joins Wi‑Fi networks from Wi‑Fi codes, and stores loyalty, gift, ticket and membership cards for you to show at the till. It works without an account and without an internet connection, except for the optional on‑tap actions described in the Privacy Policy. Every Zivanor app follows the same no‑account, device‑first approach. What each app specifically does is described on its store listing and on its page at zivanor.com.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own purposes, under these terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. The app, its design, its name and its code are ours or our licensors'. You may not copy, sell, rent, modify, reverse‑engineer or redistribute the app except where the law expressly allows it. The app contains open‑source components that remain under their own licences.

If you got the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. If you got it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.

Your data stays on your device

History, cards, notes, photos and settings are stored only on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your device secure, for any app lock you choose to enable, and for backups. If you lose your device, reset it, or uninstall the app without a backup, that data cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy of it.

Scanned content is not ours, and we do not check it

The app reads and displays whatever is encoded in a code you scan. We do not create, control, check or endorse that content. You decide whether to open a link, join a Wi‑Fi network, call a number, add a contact or event, make a payment, or act on anything else a scanned code suggests, and you do so at your own risk. The app only opens addresses in recognised, safe formats (web links, phone numbers, email addresses, map locations and similar) and shows a warning for links that look risky before you open them. These checks are a convenience, not a guarantee. We are not responsible for the content of anything you scan, for the websites it leads to, or for the networks you join.

Product and book look‑ups

When you tap "Look up", product and book details come from third‑party databases (Open Food Facts and Open Library). That data is contributed by volunteers, can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and is shown as‑is. Do not rely on it for allergy, dietary, medical or other health decisions. Always check the product's own packaging. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database Licence.

Cards

The app stores a copy of your loyalty, gift, ticket and membership cards so you can show them on your phone. It is not the card itself. The shop, venue or issuer decides whether to accept a code shown on a screen, and we are not responsible if they refuse it, if a scanner cannot read your screen, or if a card has expired or been cancelled. Balances and PINs you enter are your own notes; the app does not check them with the issuer. Keep your original cards and receipts.

Creating, sharing, exporting and printing

You are responsible for the content of any code you create, share, print or export, and for where you send it. Do not encode anything you have no right to share. A card you share with someone else contains that card's details; share it only with people you trust. Files you export are under your control once they leave the app.

Free version and ads

The free version shows one small ad banner on some screens, provided by Google AdMob. Ads are selected by Google, not by us; we do not endorse what they advertise and are not responsible for the advertisers' products, websites or conduct. The Privacy Policy explains your consent choices. Zivanor Pro removes the banner.

Zivanor Pro

Optional online features

A Zivanor app may in the future offer an optional feature that uses a server of ours, for example to share something or to sync your data between your own devices. Such features are off until you turn them on. Before you enable one, the app explains what it does, and any additional terms that apply are shown there. We may change, suspend or discontinue an optional online feature with reasonable notice; the app itself keeps working on your device.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app to create, share or distribute codes intended to mislead, defraud, phish, infringe someone's rights or harm others, to break into networks or systems you are not authorised to use, or in any way that breaks the law. Because the apps have no accounts, we cannot suspend a user; you are solely responsible for how you use the app and for any claim that results from your use.

Changes to the apps

We may update, change or remove features, and we may stop publishing an app. Updates are delivered through the app store. Where an update changes what the app sends or stores, we say so in the release notes and, for significant changes, in the app itself. If we stop publishing an app, the version on your device keeps working as long as your operating system supports it, but we cannot promise support or further updates.

No warranty, limitation of liability

The apps are provided "as is" and "as available". We test them carefully, but we cannot guarantee that an app will always be available, free of errors, or compatible with every device, or that every code will be read correctly. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, or any loss arising from scanned content, third‑party data, advertisements, store purchases, or your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to an app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 50 if that is higher. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have under the consumer protection law of the country where you live.

You are responsible for claims by you or third parties relating to the app, including product liability and legal compliance claims, to the extent they arise from your use of the app in breach of these terms. The app store from which you obtained the app has no obligation to address such claims.

Age

You must meet the minimum age set by your app store and by the laws of your country to use a Zivanor app. If you are under 18, use the app only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in The Hague, the Netherlands. If you are a consumer in the European Union or another country whose law grants you protection that cannot be excluded, you keep that protection and may also bring a claim in the courts of your own country. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the apps change. If we do, we update the date at the top, and for material changes the app or the store listing tells you. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the app and uninstall it.
